High Court Upholds Ivory Act 2018 in Legal Challenge

The Court of Appeal, composed of judges including the Master of the Rolls Mr. Lord Judge, Justice Singh and Justice Green, has affirmed Mr. Justice Jay's decision to reject an appeal from Fris of Antique Cultural Treasures Ltd agnst the Ivory Act 2018.

The company, which represents antique ivory traders and collectors, challenged that the proposed legislation would be in contravention of EU law, arguing it violated free movement rights and constituted an overbearing intrusion on these groups' privileges. However, Mr. Justice Jay had previously ruled that the limitations set by this act were not excessively restrictive.
